Making Banksy Goldfish Art from Epoxy Resin plus BONUS Girl with Balloon Pendant T-Shirt Tutorial

I downloaded this fish model from Thingiverse and split it into left and right halves using free Meshmaker software Each half is printed using an Anycubic Photon 3D resin printer See the video description for all product links I create a form to mould the 3D prints from 3mm PVC coated foamex Stick the print down using double-sided tape Seal all the joins with hot melt glue Each mould used 100g of moulding silicone Drizzle the silicone from a height to help pop any air bubbles as it pours I’m using gold (corn?!) and tangerine mica powder from my DecorRom collection A light dusting of gold is applied to the scales and eye area Fill the rest of the mould with tangerine but don’t get any on the fins Take the moulds outside and blow off excess powder with a puffer I haven’t done that indoors since the faun kitten video :/ For this project I’m using epoxy resin, which has a 2A:1B mix ratio by weight I’m using a few drops of DecorRom tengerine pigment for a deep colour The fish fins are very thin so the colour needs to be deep in order to show Pour the resin into the moulds, but use a pipette to inject resin into the bottom fins Apply a very thin layer of resin to the dorsal fin an tail fins Carefully tease the resin to the edge with a cocktail stick or toothpick I’m very happy with the colouration of the fish – the gold makes a big difference Colour the eyes with a black Sharpie marker Rough up the inside face of each half using a sharp knife Glue the two halves together using 5-minute epoxy adhesive Apply a thin layer of adhesive all over You will need to make two of these for the final piece This is a 12cm glass bowl, which holds 400g of resin… To avoid an uncontrolled exothermic reaction (overheating) I pour the resin in 4 x 100g layers After the first layer has set firm, it will hold the weight of the fish for the second layer Pour 3 You can remove the support for the final pour Glaze the fish (but not the fin) using a thin layer of UV resin to give him a wet look Cure under a UV lamp for a couple of minutes and the bowl is finished To make the heart pendant add a few drops of DecorRom cherry translucent pigment to some epoxy resin I’m using the largest heart segments of this cabochon mould You only need one but I filled them both Drill a small hole for a pinch clasp pendant bail I’m using my Cricut Explore Air 2 to cut the girl image from black iron-on vinyl – remember to reverse the image Weed the unwanted vinyl from the transfer Position the transfer onto a white cotton t-shirt and press firmly with a hot iron for about 10 seconds (video is sped up!) Finished! [Alexa] I know who Banksy really is [Alexa] And he’s definitely not you

  5. The gold fish look unbelievably real, so real that I'm now wondering how many people will wait for their gold fish to die before they cover them in resin and recreate this scene??? ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜

  6. I remember the little goldfish thingies you made with stickers, I'd love to make a combo of a 3D fish and some greenery. Alas, I haven't the fancy toys needed to make a fish mould so I'll settle with enjoying watching you craft. Alexa's wrong, you are good!

  7. Lovely work of arts! These Goldfish looks realistic!๐Ÿ˜Š

  15. That was different. But, I liked it. Love the fish jumping from the bowl to the ocean. Very clever. Although, I would place the bowl on the opposite side so it will appear they are jumping into the ocean. And, of course, you always make me giggle, so thank for you that!

  16. ๐Ÿ˜ Oh man, you have really cool stuff to play with! Thanks for the show! And the fishies are incredible, so real ๐Ÿ‘

  17. Ahhh! Two for the price of one. I loved the effect on the goldfish, so gorgeous! And the idea of the t-shirt and the necklace as a pair is really clever too. Thanks for sharing, as always!
