KitchenAid Artisan Mixer Lock Fix

okay this is going to be a strange video unless you have this problem in then you understand why I've made it this is my KitchenAid Artisan mixer it's one of my favorite kitchen tools it goes up there along with the Suvi and whatever else the trouble with that a well-documented problem with the KitchenAid Artisan mixer is that the lock stops working so it carries that it can lock up however it won't lock down so I actually bought into the workshop today thinking that I was going to have to dismantle it and all sorts however there is a very very quick fix and that is in the upright position get a screwdriver it helps if you get a little screwdriver because the if it's too long you're going to be going at an angle whoops I'm doing this one-handed haha I'll just tighten this screw that's what I'm doing is tightly this screwed now um I think I need to do probably about another half turn because I did this earlier okay so I've tightened that screw unlock it to go back and then it's now clicked into place oh it's a fantastic book here I've had it for years and I just thought I'd worn it out and that I was going to have to either send off for a spare part or Matri manufacturer spare part for it I just didn't think that it could be easy as easy as getting a tiny little flat blade screwdriver and so then hopefully I'll get another how many years it is out of this I was analyze secretly hoping it couldn't be fixed because KitchenAid now do this in a purple which is everybody without purple is my favorite color however I think black is sexy and this is just the domestic version they do it they do a commercial version as well but you know what even if this is just the domestic version it ain't I've had some hammer over the years and and I just think it is it's a basic no frills no computers beautifully engineered wonderful wonderful kitchen mixer so that is your KitchenAid Artisan mixer lock fault fixed Cheers

  1. I already ordered the latch piece for my moms mixer. Took it apart only to see that the new latch looked like the old one. Watcher your video and BAM, now it's fixed. Thank you so much for posting this.

  2. This is awesome thank you so much! I thought i was either going to have to send it somewhere or buy a new one.

  7. I had bought a kitchen aid mixer and am in the process of returning it, but I will try this tonight to see if this will fix the mixer not being able to lock.

  8. I just got this kitchen aid and had this issue and I felt like it wasn't getting the stuff on the bottom of the bowl. This solved both of my issues! Thank you!

  9. Thanks so much. I thought it was going to be a costly fix and was going to jerry-rig a system using string.

  10. Thank you sir! I bought mine and it immediately had this issue. Thanks to you and this video I know now that nothing is wrong.

  11. My lock/unlock works fine but the black knob fell off. I ordered a new one from amazon and they sent me a whirlpool item. I will need to replace the entire locking mechinism. I just need the knob to add to the end of the switch. Any suggestions what to do? thank you

  12. If I turn the screw clockwise, it eventually reaches a point where the top part locks down OK. But because that's the same screw that adjusts the gap between the paddle and the bottom of the bowl, the paddle now scrapes the bowl. Turning the screw anticlockwise produces the required gap, but the top no longer locks down. I need both!

  13. Thank you!
    What a great help!

The only thing is not to screw it fully, otherwise the head starts to shake. Turn the screw by 180 degree and test it, if not solved go for another 180 or 90 degree. After each turning try your mixer and look at head how it behaves.
