Hello, I’m Catherine and in this video we are going to make an origami parrot. We are starting with a square of paper, mine is 15cm or 6inches square, and anything around this sort of size is good for learning this one. So, we fold it in half horizontally, and then turn it so the crease is running top to bottom. Now we are going to fold each of the bottom corners in to that centre line. Like this Turn the paper round, and we are going to fold the bottom edge up to the middle horizontal line. And we’ll do the same on the other side. Now, we’ll turn it so the point is pointing upwards, and we are going to fold it so the middle is coming up towards us. That’s called a ‘mountain’ fold. Tidy it up a bit if you need to. Now, with that point still pointing upwards we are going to lift the bottom section, and swing it across, like this. Make a firm crease and then you can fold it the other way as well. Now, we are going to open it up, and make a reverse – it’s called a ‘reverse’ fold. Push that middle section up, There so we’ve got the square on the left side. There are some interesting shapes in this one. Now, we are going to take the top left corner of that square, and fold it down to the bottom right corner. Like that. Now we’ll open it up, and we are going to make another reverse fold. So we’ll push down that top edge, on the left, and fold it so we’re using the same creases but just folding it inside, Now, we’re rotating it round, and, we’re nearly there, we’ve just got the head to go now. We’ll fold over a section at the top, it doesn’t matter exactly where, as long as the left side is higher than the right. Then, open it up and we’re going to make another reverse fold. So, we’re pushing down that top crease to make the beak, and the back of the head. I hope yours worked out well! If not…don’t worry… stay calm… and either unfold it, or take another sheet of paper and have another go. Here are just some ideas of what you can do with them, though you don’t have to do anything particularly with them, they’re just nice to fold. Well, thank you for watching 🙂 If you like this video, please subscribe and..see you next time! 🙂 Bye!
