Finn (Adventure Time) – Polymer Clay Tutorial

Hey guys and welcome to another Polymer Clay tutorial! Today we will create Finn from Adventure Time and to be honest this series is new to me so join me on my journey to learn everything about it! Normally I’m doing some research before recording for the tutorial but this time, I just told you Adventure Time is completely new to me. I know nothing about it. The reason why I created one of the characters is pretty simple. Well, you asked a lot for creating something from Adventure time and I really like the characters. I know that this will be Finn after we finish creating, so let’s read the Wikipedia entry for this Adventure Time series to learn something about it. Adventure time is an American animated television series created by Pendleton Ward for Cartoon Network A-ha good to know. It follows the adventures of a boy named Finn. I assume this is Finn and his best friend and adopted brother Jake. And well, I know that Jake is the dog and yeah. The article on Wikipedia says a dog with the magical power to change shape and size at will. Yes this explains why I have seen some big pictures of Jake. Sometimes he is very small and sometimes he’s very big and long arms, long legs whatever. Yeah, so he is capable of doing some magic tricks, I assume. And last fun fact and I think that’s enough for me to learn: Finn and Jake live in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, where they interact with the princess Bubblegum. Yeah, I have heard and it says the Ice King, Marceline the Vampire Queen and others OK. Some more characters. I really hope that you suggest some more of the characters for the poll which will be in the next Adventure Time tutorial. I’m planning to create a total of at least three tutorials about Adventure Time just to see if you like it or not and if I should continue with that. Okay, this was all the pre-talk about Adventure Time. Now I know some more details about it and we can jump into the creation. Most of the time a video speaks for itself, but let me explain some more of the details I’m creating. For the arms and for the legs of this character this Finn clay creation, I’m using some aluminum wire. The reason is pretty simple. These arm and also the legs are pretty thin and they would break too easily if you just take only oven hardening clay, so I prefer coating the aluminum wire. OK this will be his left arm and I’m changing the position of this arm, so it isn’t just straight. This arm will later hold the sword. I assume, but I don’t know that this sword is very important for this character. Maybe it also has some magic powers I don’t know, but we will find out very soon. No later when you write me in the comments: ‘Dude, you’re completely wrong! This sword is just garbage.’ Currently creating the fingers of the Finn’s left hand and also the thumb. So this hand will hold the sword. This will be the legs for the character. I’m taking a darker blue for the trousers, so just be careful that you take brighter blue for the shirt and the darker blue for the trousers. There is no big difference between these two blue colours, but well it should be noticeable at a glance. Okay these will be just the trousers parts. Just preparing the holes and I’m sticking them right onto the aluminum wire. And now we can focus on creating the legs. Some of you asked me and I was really happy to read that ‘How was your vacation? I hope you enjoy it.’ For those of you who didn’t know I’ve been on vacation. This is why there was no tutorial last week. I really enjoyed the time. I’ve been to Spain with my family and we’ve been to San Sebastian and we really enjoyed our trip, but to be honest I was also very looking forward to create again with clay and to create new tutorials all the time while lying down in the sand at the beach. I was just thinking about my channel and what I could create next. The decision to create a character from Adventure Time came only a few days ago when I was just reading some of your comments. Shortening the aluminum wire and we will finish the legs and feet part by just taking some black clay. This is pretty simple, but to make it more easily I would just make a hole and cut it right open and place it onto the aluminum wire of the feet. Okay, here we go. Also the other foot. I think it looks nice. I really hope that it is stable enough and that the figure will stand still. OK now we can work on the sword and later also on the characteristic backpack, because I think on nearly every picture I found of Finn there was this green backpack. But let’s focus on this sword first. There’s some kind of a red diamond or a stone. Maybe there’s a story behind that sword, so please let me know that in the comments if you know more details about that. For the blade I was looking for golden clay. This is it and it’s not very soft. It’s too dry and I wouldn’t create any further with that but for creating this sword it works. It’s always the same problem with this golden clay. It gets so hard. I don’t know why. There are some details some scratches on the blade and I’m creating them with my scalpel and now we can place Finn onto the plate for hardening in the oven, but of course we have to create the green backpack and this backpack contains two different kinds of green. There’s a darker one and a slightly brighter green. The shape is pretty easy. I have just created the way I’m doing it placing the two semicircles together. There’s this button for opening I assume and just placing it. Just remove some more clay and placing it right on the Finn’s back. Now we will create… I think these are called ropes, right? They are also bright and dark green. Just placing them around the arms. I was curious what is in this backpack because Finn is wearing it all the time, so maybe you could also write that down in the comments and we will go to the oven! Freshly baked Finn with backpack and his sword. Now we will take this sword. It’s hard now and we will glue it into his hand. It would also work without glue but I decided just to glue it inside so that I don’t lose it while playing with all the polymer clay creations. This is some transparent polish to get a shiny effect on the sword and I guess finally… It is standing and that’s it! I really hope you enjoyed this new tutorial of this new series on my channel Adventure Time. I will create at least three videos of this series and I encourage you to write down in the comments if you like this series. What are you suggestions for the other two tutorials? So please let me know. I’m looking forward to that. Normally I’m linking videos which are similar but this is the first one of this series but it kind of reminded me of Steve from Minecraft. So check out… check out… Check out the tutorial of Steve from Minecraft. OK I guess that’s it for today. Next video will be next week, week, week. What’s going on? Next video will be next week with Clash Royale. After that there will be another tutorial from Adventure Time. After that a Pokemon tutorial and after that the last maybe the last tutorial from Adventure Time. It all depends on your comments. Thanks for watching! Take care. Hope to see you next time. Bye! So you’re Steve! – And you’re Finn, huh? Minecraft is cool! OK, I will play with you.

  1. Lol nope that sword is.. just a sword! His main sword is the “Finn sword” what it is inside of it there’s a tiny little Finn living inside the sword lol it’s confusing but cool! The Finn sword is blue silver and white and has a big blue dot on it where the Finn lives

  2. In his backpack he usually carries water, a map, a piece of princess bubble gums hair (I’m not joking lol) sometimes Jake or BMO, Jakes viola, Rope, trail mix, flute and toothbrush
    It can hold a lot

  3. Actually Finn is the adopted one not Jake in adventure time Finn went boom boom on a leaf and jakes parents (Joshua and Margaret) picked him up and raised Finn with Jake and Jermaine.

Jake was actually born from his farther and after being bitten on the head from a blue creature giving Jake the ability to stretch and form.

  4. Finn up is awesome I tryed to do him but yours is way better pls give me a like can I at least get ten likes?

  5. how do you make the clay stick together so easy? Like when you put the backpack on. and like when you put the head on the body.

  6. 😁😀😊🙄👌👍🖒👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

  7. Umm well, when I am watching this, adventure time is cancelled, and Finn has a robotic arm. 1 year ago, he still had a robot arm, this was done wrong, either way, I still love it, good job.

  8. Adventure Time, c’mon grab your friends, we’ll go to very distant lands, with Jake the Dog and Finn the Human, the fun will never end, it’s Adventure Time!!
