the best aspects of studying English it killed for me aside from you know the supportive staff and the great text we do at the course I think it's definitely got to be the environment for me like kills such a beautiful place it's in the countryside kind of it's peaceful you know there's this great you know old Hall you know kill hall and almost like looking at it it's like looking at history best aspect of me personally is the variety of modules available for us to choose from so I guess it caters to everyone from like the early English modules to later 125 century modules okay to everyone I guess it's the texts first and foremost for somebody who loved literature as much as I do and many of the students it's a great option to take at University is it it's a relatively small intimate nurturing kind of environment I think Jim's get well looked after have good relationships were there with their tutors first year level we tend to teach introductory modules to English so for example students will take core modules module specifically a reading literature and becoming a critic in semesters one and their modules that are designed to give our students a sort of introduction to a variety of different types of literature in different periods my favorite modules have been coming to critic in the second year and telling tales as well come in a critique was great because we've got such a wide selection of attacks all in the second year there was a module called burning crosses it was about religion in America and I thought that was really really interesting it made a new way of looking at text it is a module called post colonialism on world literature's which was headed by Mary Angela Palladino and that was really really awesome she's very very engaging and you look at you know aspects of literature that you never even would have considered before it's really helpful to know that you can like just knock on the door in their office hours you know pop them for a chart and everything's just like it feels so much easier after that also having friends on your course as well who have the same interests as you you know it's quite a small English course that kills so you get to know people quite well and you end up like relying on each other and I think that's a big part of it the English staff members are kill are very supportive because they're always there to answer your questions always there to provide you with feedback when necessary I think it's really important to have a good relationship between staff and students and I think that is something that is particularly possible at Keele there are a variety of activities that our students can be involved with alongside their studies the Drama Society is particularly popular at Cale Hall here we've run every fortnight writing groups creative writing groups and there are creative writing speakers well-known novelists and poets who come to speak to students at Keele and to share their their latest work I'm the editor of the student newspaper which is a lot of work so it's all good fun I have a very very good team a new Vic theater that I have showings all the time and as well the Mitchell theatre and the arts festival literary arts festival is a great thing to do it's a great thing to get involved in as well
