My name is Jin Eui Kim came from South Korea. I’m a ceramic artist working in Cardiff. I studied textile fashion engineering back in Korea. Sudden changing of my life, in love with doing ceramics. I got an opportunity to transfer to the Art University in Tasmania, and then I
work, and work and work, and then I thought I needed more study. That is why I came to Cardiff. I graduated at Cardiff School of Art in design, with MA and then also a PhD in ceramics. It was six-years in all. The optical illusion appears on two dimensional walls really well, like optical art. If I know the principal of peoples perception I can’t control them, I can use them to create illusory phenomena. The tonal gradient from light as a white, to the darkest black. I use a eighty tones. It took six-months to get the right gradient. Depending on how
I arrange the tonal band, there appears to be a very
special phenomena, and the phenomena influences the three dimensional form. The first show, which was called, Turning up London’, I sold almost seventy seven percent of my work. I got lots of
attention from galleries. Notably I exhibited at Ruthin Craft
Center, Contemporary Applied Arts in London, and
Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and Art Exchange in Seattle,USA, and at the Lilly Zeligman gallery in Holland. My work was selected for both ceramic events; one was British ceramic Biennial and the other
one was the International Ceramic Biennale, 2013. It was great, I was really pleased to to be selected for the major ceramic event. If you are interested in my work please feel free to contact me. I can
make beautiful piece, beautiful ceramic work for
you.
