it's probably not your sidekick a story about a girl from superhero family cause we thought with the girl from super ability just Brits her teeth and determination going for a running start the gravel on the trail crunches below her feet the wind rushes through her hair and she can taste the success yet to come this time this time she's gonna make it the canyon is streaked of color warm in the afternoon my golden striations racing across the signature rusty reds of the dusty landscape the skies are gorgeous impossible lube and clouds flutter down the endless horizon a perfect backdrop for a first flame every step resonates in her body and her heart beats quickly blood racing like one of the rarest of abilities metahuman super flyer almost always guaranteed a spot in the heroes League of Heroes regardless of any of their other powers just as dad can play and her older sister inherited the gene why not just why not me I could be your hero just things that she picks up speed jess is turning 17 and a week and then it'll be too late for her to register she hasn't demonstrated any regards at all not as a child and I was not a lesson but she's held out hope after all there are always a few outliers documented cases of teenagers Prentiss presenting as much later even all this 16 well no one's presented with any powers after 17 the wind whistles and readers and a desert is alive in warmint colors encouraging her on where the trail curves and stars head down the canyon rim just keeps going forward right for the edge where it Peters off into the canyon below time and erosion has split the rock formation into leaving a gap of at least get away just doesn't hesitate pushing herself for them leaping into the air the desert is silent except for the pebbles scattering forward from the vivid falling into the gap and tumbling down far below justice in the air and for a few seconds she can taste the sky reaching out to her welcoming her whoa just that's hard on the other side of the gap false cloud on her cheek she gets up and spits dust out of her mouth cringing at the stinger through the father face her body's going to hate later this is the third job she's made today just rules over and stares the sky all right so maybe flying is not gonna happen she says reluctantly she fishes inside her pocket for the list she made of all the possible power she could inherit from her parents play magnetic field manipulation and have strength energy healing factor there's another longer list too of all the powers currently on file at the metahuman registration but justice target in dirt and Duke bruised and frustrated and it's unlikely at this point she's ever ever going to be a superhero
