Artist uses technology to help us understand our physical world

my name is David Stout and I have a composer and visual artists working with new emerging technologies you're in the hybrid arts lab Hal for short it's located at the College of Music at the University of North Texas and it's an interdisciplinary artist studio and research laboratory for doing work in the solana fication of images interactive performance of virtual reality and other kinds of sort of hybrid art forms a piece is called the Janice which and it plays with the sonification of imagery and it uses a feedback system with 3d images where I can create all kinds of rhythmic material this is probably the most fascinating thing about VR that separates it from cinema and that is that there's kind of a direct bodily response and it can move it can cover any sort of terrain from a person being intimidated and sort of frozen in space not wanting to take a step too gleeful running and shouting or just being drawn in so there are a lot of oohs and ahhs and gasps you know it's really exciting to see an audience respond to work that way
